Basil becomes important herb for cooking or medication purposes, it’s easy to grow with different methods, either indoor or outdoor. For people with limited land, they might try indoor concept and use kitchen space as a perfect area to start. As it can grow in different methods, then growing basil in water is not an impossible thing even in a glass. How to start?
First of all, prepare necessary items such as peat moss, pot, scissors and glass or long-necked bottle as an alternative.
1. Prepare lukewarm water to fill up the glass or long-necked bottle. Clean the containers before you fill them up with water.
2. Prepare a high quality cutting and you can get it by taking a cutting from an existing basil plant, especially the one in the middle of the season. Make sure you get a 6-inch cutting, especially the one from the end of a shoot. Before you use it, remove all leaves on the lower half.
3. The next thing you can do is putting down the bud into the water, and just let the leaves take a rest on the top of the bottle or glass. Now, you can take it to sunny area and windowsill can be a perfect spot to grow.
4. The daily maintenance of growing basil in water is easy because you just have to replace the water every day with new and clean lukewarm water. The cutting needs two weeks to have roots, and then you can move it into a new pot with peat moss.
